Architecture and urban planning

Architecture and urban planning play a key role in today’s economy and society, not only providing shelter and safety for residents but also facilitating the functioning of society, reflecting its values, goals, and aspirations, contributing to prosperity, and increasing material wealth. Architecture has a significant impact on social bonds and interactions and on collective and individual emotional experiences, shaping cultural identity and the sense of beauty. Important architectural structures and historic monuments, as well as outstanding works of contemporary architecture, are not only symbols that build the image and identity of places but also media and tourist attractions, concentrating economic activity and offering economic benefits to the surrounding regions. Architecture is a mirror of the values of the societies from which it originates, fostering a sense of pride and national identity.

Law

The offer of the discipline of legal sciences in the areas of cooperation with the economy and society encompasses both knowledge transfer and the co-creation of institutional solutions that respond to the real needs of the market and the community. In relations with the business sector, legal sciences offer: compliance analysis and audits in regulated sectors; drafting and reviewing agreements and contractual models; assessment of legal risks in investments, restructurings, and M&A transactions; support in the protection of intellectual property, data, and technology (including AI); and the development of corporate governance standards and ESG policies. Another important component is cooperation in dispute resolution – from drafting mediation and arbitration clauses to analyses of the effectiveness of procedures and litigation strategies. In the social dimension, the discipline offers expert opinions for public administration and non-governmental organizations, evaluation of laws and public policies, legislative support, and educational activities that raise citizens’ legal awareness. These are complemented by empirical research on the functioning of institutions, deregulatory and anti-bureaucratic recommendations, and the development of good-practice tools that strengthen trust in the state and legal certainty in everyday life.

Psychology, Pedagogy and Family sciences

The unit remains open to scientific cooperation within consortia, national and international projects, and interdisciplinary initiatives. Cooperation includes research in psychology, clinical psychology, and neurocognitive science, as well as projects concerning new forms of psychological support, information technologies, and undertakings at the intersection of the social and biological sciences.

Central and local government units, social welfare centers, day support facilities, foster care institutions, family and psychological-educational counseling centers, non-governmental organizations, church institutions, and entities of the healthcare and justice systems are invited to cooperate. The unit offers diagnostic and evaluation research, co-development of support programs, preparation of tools for assessing family functioning, and specialized training for those working with families (including social workers, family assistants, court-appointed probation officers, therapists, and teachers). The unit is also open to participation in national and international research projects and in consortia developing innovative forms of family support in local communities and in the workplace.

The discipline can contribute to strengthening civil society by developing and implementing solutions that increase citizen participation in decision-making processes at the local, national, and European levels.

3. Equality, human rights, inclusion

  • diagnosis of inequalities (gender, social status, ethnic origin, disability, migration),
  • design and evaluation of equality and anti-discrimination policies,
